Offering the prayer was obliged on the previous nations. This view is supported by the sayings of the Prophets Moses, Aaron, Ibrahim, Ismail, Maryam, and Jesus
Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) :
{ And We inspired to Moses and his brother, "Settle your people in Egypt in houses and make your houses [facing the] qiblah1 and establish prayer and give good tidings to the believers." }
Quran ( 87 : 10 )
